Description

Based on a series of interfaith roundtable dialogues held at PASSIA, this anthology contains essays by prominent Muslim and Christian Palestinians analyzing Muslim-Christian relations in Palestine. The work examines the misinterpretation of religious texts and the use and misuse of them in daily life. The participants of the dialogue try to understand these religious texts in context, and in doing so encourage enhanced understanding between the Christian and Muslim communities. Topics covered include Citizenship in an Islamic State, Religious Unity, and Muslim-Christian Relations in Palestine Now and in a Future Palestinian State, Perspective of the ‘Other’ in Islam and Christianity, as well as the concepts of Al-Jizya, dhimmis.
